A l'aube de l'art déco
Julien Gérardin (1860-1924), photographe nancéien, est l’auteur d’une œuvre considérable. Il fut un véritable pionnier de la couleur et réalisa plus de 6000 autochromes, premier procédé de photographies couleurs. Membre de la Société centrale d’horticulture de Nancy, il immortalise de nombreuses scènes de jardins, de parcs, des paysages lorrains et des femmes dans la nature.

L’ENSAD (École nationale supérieure d’art et de design de Nancy) est aujourd’hui propriétaire de son fonds d’autochromes exceptionnel, déposé dans sa bibliothèque.
Ces clichés uniques, pris entre 1907 et 1919, témoignent d’une époque, par une technique qui deviendra ensuite très en vogue pendant la Belle Epoque.

L’exposition du jardin botanique, installée au cœur du Jardin des roses, dans un parcours onirique, mettra en lumière quelques œuvres d’inspiration végétale, avec des portraits préfigurant l’esthétique Art Déco.
